Students get hands on look at equipment during Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day 2024

The MTRC celebrated Manufacturing Day (MFG Day), an annual event designed to showcase the modern manufacturing industry and inspire the next generation of creators. High school students attended for engaging exhibits, interactive demonstrations, and networking hosted by MSC Industrial Supply Co. and held at the University of Tennessee’s Machine Tool Research Center at TN MADE.

Manufacturing is an evolving field where creativity, technology, and problem-solving come together. Students who attended the MFG Day event:

  • explored interactive vendor booths featuring cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, products, and services
  • joined UT student-led demonstrations on robotics, machining, additive manufacturing, and metrology
  • connected with educators, industry professionals, and peers to build community and empower future manufacturing leaders.

Four special door prizes were awarded per session. Refreshments and other take-home gifts were provided by UT and the many suppliers and partners in attendance.

  • Door prizes included four Bambu Lab A1 mini 3D Printers with multiple rolls of colored PLA.
  • Every student received safety glasses to take home.

This was a key opportunity to introduce high school students to the diverse and rewarding careers in manufacturing.
